Ria- Dancing her way to fame

Farzana Chowdhury Ria, a popular face in the media, has proved her versatility as an artiste in the fields of acting, modeling and hosting. Apart from dancing, teaching and choreography, she also judges several dance shows. Ria says, “Dancing is everything for me. Whenever I get an offer to judge a dance programme, I take it willingly.”
Ria made her debut in the media when she was a student of class nine – through a commercial for Cocola biscuit. She continued her stride as a model with consecutive appearances in several TVCs. Her performance in the TVCs strengthened her reputation in the media and steered her towards acting.
Ria's first TV play appearance was in “Ekaki Ekela”, followed by several short plays and tele films. During that time, BTV aired two serials by Ria – “Hajar Ronger Shopno” and “Shopno Shomudro” -- which catapulted her to stardom.
Ria has performed dance in several countries, including England, USA, Japan, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Australia and India. She has also made official state visits to other countries as a dancer.
Despite her busy acting and modeling schedule, Ria always gives top priority to dancing. Asked what is needed to expand dance as an art form, Ria replies, “Unlike actors and models, the media refuses to focus on dancers. They also need to be promoted properly.” On a separate note, Ria also asserted the necessity for setting up more permanent dance stages.
